The economic capital of the South must be a safe place to work, live & play... Atlanta has long enjoyed a reputation as a can-do city. The economic capital of the south and headquarters for 14 Fortune 500 companies, Atlanta's ability to remain a good place to live, play and conduct business is closely tied to its ability to secure the safety of its citizens.
We must dramatically cut crime… Mayor Shirley Franklin underscored her commitment to reducing crime when she appointed Chief Richard J. Pennington as Atlanta’s 22nd Chief in July, 2002. Under Chief Pennington’s leadership, crime in New Orleans fell by 50%, attributable in large part to the support of The New Orleans Police Foundation. Mayor Franklin committed to support the creation of a Police Foundation in Atlanta.
The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization governed by a diverse 27 member Board of Trustees, representing business, law, education, not-for-profit organizations and the community. |
