| Atlanta, Georgia -- 5/24/2007 “A Night with the Blues”, the Second Annual Policeman’s Ball, held on May 12 at the Georgia Aquarium, was a huge success, netting nearly $290,000 to support the programs and initiatives of the Atlanta Police Foundation. Guests were tempted with more than 100 silent auction items, as well as fabulous live auction offerings, including the adoption of a horse for the APD’s Mounted Patrol unit!
The aquarium’s sea lions certainly played a part as they enthusiastically welcomed arriving guests, who were also captivated by the sight of the beluga whales as they wound their way to the reception and silent auction. Ball Co-chairs, Stephanie Blank and Patrick Kerney greeted the nearly 700 guests, which included many of Atlanta’s Finest, Mayor Shirley Franklin and Chief Pennington, music industry celebrities and representatives of sponsoring organizations. “The Three Waiters” added an element of fun and spontaneity, initially posing as waiters and then breaking into arias. The League of Decency was on hand for the listening and dancing pleasure of the guests. The Atlanta Police Foundation thanks all our sponsors, guests, volunteers and board members for helping to make “A Night with the Blues” a night to remember. |
