The Atlanta Police Department (APD) is looking for smart, dedicated, energetic professionals to join their ranks! APD offers an exciting career with competitive pay and excellent benefits. The Department is in the midst of increasing its force to 2000 officers by the year 2009 so that they may better serve the citizens of Atlanta.
 
Through the Recruitment Program, the Atlanta Police Foundation has joined forces with APD to support them in reaching recruitment goals by assisting with advertising and branding for the Department.  In addition, the program offers incentives such as a referral bonus to any City of Atlanta employee who refers an officer applicant that is hired and passes the Police Academy Recruit Program.  
 
In 2006, the APD, with assistance from the Atlanta Police Foundation and the Recruitment Program, was able to recruit 204 new officers, an increase of 66 from the previous year.  For 2007, 251 new officers were recruited to “Answer the Call” and become part of the Atlanta Police Department.
